I went to a wedding on the weekend, and a few people asked how it went.... I'm left a little bemused to answer because I keep imagining some sort of bizarre industrial accident happening...

"Awful, the bride tripped and married the wrong person."

"Well, the church fell down, but apart from that..."

I know what they mean when they ask, I just start thinking of what the alternatives to "It went well" might been.

btw, it went well. :)

You're right, I should stop at once ...

A bunch of skinny aliens landed their ship in the car-park and started getting aggro...but they went-away happy when Avril stepped-in as bridesmaid and gave them a fitness/exercise plan to make them muscly and "ripped".

Weirdo ;)

The usual problem is fights at the reception. I hate those.

Been lucky so far. Most dramatic thing was a bridesmaid puking cos she'd consumed nothing but champagne since breakfast.

Yeww, that'll do it.

well, the church burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp...

Yeah. But weddings, you know, I kinda get - bad receptions, insufficient alcohol, groom not turning up, bride changing her mind.

What gets me is people who ask the same about *funerals*.

"Uh, the corpse failed to sit up and ask what the hell was going on, and his transvestite mistress failed to turn up and hurl abuse at his wife and children. Pretty tame, really.".

Heh, but its not phrased as "nothing went wrong, did it?" - there's really almost an expectation of it being quite a surprise when everything is peachykeen.
