Table of DOOM!
23rd-Apr-2007 11:29 pm
A few people have been aware that I was building a table for my parents... its done. Some folks expressed interest in some photos, so...

Back in November 2006, an off the cuff comment about needing a bigger outdoor table from one of my parents made me think "I can build one" for Christmas. This turned out to be almost biting off more than I could chew.

In late April 2007, I finally delivered it to them. Its not perfect, but it will standup and hold salad.

Here then, is the saaaaga.

There's no final photos of it finished and with legs, because when I delivered it, on Saturday, it was pouring rain and I didn't think to grab the camera. Suffice to say that Liz and me were on the back porch, slowly getting wetter and wetter, attaching each of the four legs with four long screws as my parents' dog insisted we play with her instead....

Clever would have been buying one :>

They were surprised. They weren't home when we took it over so they came home to a table. :)

That is awesome, Damien, I have the concentration of a gnat at the moment, so really admire people who are able to invest themselves into worthwhile projects like that. Big congratulations.

Nea! I'm jealous.

Hopefully I'll be able to get back into that sort of thing once I move.

That is awesome!

I love a good craft project and one that's actually useful is even better. Even if you get the whole "I am never ever doing that again" feeling afterwards.

Til next time.

Yeah, it led to a new Rule #1 - when building furniture, make sure you have the means to transport it. We had to hire a hi-ace :)

Nice work!
If I didn't have to go through 2 GB of photos, I'd show you a picture of the table my friend made. He needed 6 persons to lift it...but yeah, it also holds salads pretty well.
