New camera

CUBE!
I am now the happy owner of a Canon 450D DSLR.

The Nikon Coolpix 995 I have had for ages is a neat little camera; the twisty frame has let me take some weird photos over time. But in the last year or so, its been getting a bit funny on the autofocus, and the battery has not been lasting very long.

So I took some present money and some ruddbucks.. well, all the ruddbucks, and went bought a new one. I had been eyeing off the 40D, but in the end, it was a bit too much. So I got the 450 and a couple of lenses and a polarising filter.

So far, so good - some adjustment to the new menus and the extra options, but I'm gradually seeing what it can and can't do. I don't think I'll throw the nikon away, because its still good for things like parties, and its a bit lighter than the whole DSLR kit too, but I now have a pretty new camera for doing the deliberate photo shoot thing.

Playing about with it on Sunday...

Some really sweet photos there!
Much as I love Nikon (and am therefore supposed to be ideologically opposed to all things Canon), I've heard good stuff about the Canon EOS 400D, so you' expect the 450D to be that little bit more refined. :)
Out of interest, what type of lenses did you get?
Have fun experimenting with it. :->

I got a pack with two canon stabilised lenses - and 18-55mm one and 55-2#0 (I forget the exact number). (and a polarising filter)

I will :)

Yay for shiny new geekery. As a Canon owner, I have a soft spot for 'em. :)

I have gone to the dark.. er.. ight..?... shadow? side. Some side. Someone said "no, go the D300 Nikon", but man, it was $1000 more.
