Pointed out by the inestimable Ainsley, an excerpt from the Victoria Electoral Commission website

"How many boxes do I need to number if I vote below the line?
Voting below the line in the State election is different to voting below the line for the Federal Senate election, where you have to number every box. In the State Upper House election, you only need to number at least 5 boxes. You can then go on to number as many more as you wish, after having numbered your top five preferences."

Take the time folks, its worth it to try and short circuit the party-based idiocy that got us a Family First Senator at the Federal level. Really. 5 minutes every 4 years - you spend more time trying to decide between ice cream flavours.

Ahhh, Family First. A candidate for the most egregiously mis-named political party ever.

Yah... tempting to confront them and ask "do you support my family? Because my immediate family has 3 adults in it..."

I am guessing its only "nice" families.

They only support 'nuclear' families. Which could well mean those that haven't mutated yet.

Actually it's five minutes every three years, by legislation, in Victoria.

And I estimate at about 5 foot 8. :)
